The Swedish Maritime Administration publishes navigational charts for navigating Swedish waters. Navigational charts contain information on fairways, depth, coastline and other information necessary for safe navigation. Major efforts to collect information about the area are required to produce navigational charts.

The Swedish Maritime Administration works continually to measure depth in our fairways and determine the location of objects significant to navigation. The data is stored in databases.

When a navigational chart is to be produced, the information in these databases is retrieved and provided either as a traditional navigation chart on paper or as a digital navigational chart that is displayed on a computer. The information in our navigational chart databases is also compatible with GIS applications.

In order to provide speedy information about changes to navigational charts, the Swedish Maritime Administration issues Notices to Mariners (NtM). Mariners can use Web NtM here on the Swedish Maritime Administration’s website to search the information in the database, which is updated daily. The site also contains information about current editions of navigational charts.
