Opening Hours for the Södertälje Lock and the Bridge Mälarbron in Södertälje Canal

These hours apply for southbound traffic, from Lake Mälaren to the salt water area. Northbound traffic is co-ordinated with these openings, in order to reduce the total number of openings.

Bridge Mälarbron opening hours:
Monday - Thursday: 0900, 1100, 1300, 1500, 1715, 1900 och 2100.
Friday: 0900, 1100, 1300, 1500, 1715, 1900, 2000 och 2100. 
Saturday - Sunday and holiday: 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2000, 2100.

The lock and lockbridge High season (June 1 - August 31):
Monday - Friday: 0815, 0915, 1015, 1115, 1215, 1315, 1415, 1515, 1615, 1730, 1815, 1915, 2015, 2115
Saturday - Sunday and holiday: 0815, 0915, 1015, 1115, 1215, 1315, 1415, 1515, 1615, 1715, 1815, 1915, 2015, 2115

The lock and lockbridge (beginning of the season - May 31 and September 1 - end of the season:
Monday - Thursday: 0915, 1115, 1315, 1515, 1730, 1915, 2115
Friday: 0915, 1115, 1315, 1515, 1730, 1815, 1915, 2015, 2115
Saturday - Sunday and holiday: 0815, 0915, 1015, 1115, 1215, 1315, 1415, 1515, 1615, 1715, 1815, 1915, 2015, 2115

• Passage by merchant vessels might delay or change the opening hours. Local signs give information. Merchant vessels always have priority.
  
  
• Mälarbron is operated from VTS Södertälje tower beside the lock, where the canal is surveilled by cameras.
  
  
• Mälarbron safe vertical clearance is 13.8 metres - width 34,9 m.
  
  
• Northbound sailcraft with height exceeding 13.8 metres must adjust their passage to the opening hours of Mälarbron.
  
  
• Sailcraft with height exceeding 13.8 metres may sometimes pass Mälarbron at other hours than the above-mentioned, in co-ordination with merchant vessel's openings, after argeement with the lock and bridge crew at VTS Södertälje.
  
  
• Hours above apply to southbound traffic. Northbound traffic is co-ordinated to these hours.
  
  
• Other times for passage throgh the lock, may be agreed upon with the lock crew.
  
  
• Other openings than those according to the timetable are announced through the digital signs and loudspeakers.
