Brofjorden 

 

Visibility restrictions

  • For vessels of 30 000dwt and more the visibility shall be 0,5nm or more.  
  • For vessels with assistance of escort tug the visibility shall be minimum 2.0nm on arrival and minimum 1,5nm on departure.
  • For arriving vessels of 200 000dwt or more Lindholmen leading lights shall be visible when passing Brofjorden approach buoy. On departure from crude oil jetty the visibility shall be minimum 2.0nm.

 

Vind and Waves restrictions for vessels compulsory to use escort tug

Vessels compulsory to use escort tug:

  • When the average wind exceeds 18m/s in direction from south over west to north, the escort service will be suspended.
  • If the average wind is 15,0m/s or more or if the significant wave height is 3,0m or more, the escort service will be suspended.

Crude oil vessels:

  • Arrival: The escort service will be suspended if the average wind is 15,0m/s or more, or if the significant wave height is 3,0m or above.
  • Departure: The escort service will be suspended if the average wind is 15,0m/s or more with directions from south over west to north, or if the significant wave height is 3,0m or above.
  • For vessels in ballast condition of 200 000dwt and more the escort service will be suspended if the average wind is 12,0m/s or more or if the significant wave height is 3,0m or more.

 

General recommendations.

  • Vessels sailing in Brofjorden fairway are recommended to take into consideration the time for weather-improvement if the average wind is 18 m/s or more from south over west to north.
  • If the  mean wind is 25m/s or more from south over west to north the Brofjorden fairway should only be used if really necessary

  • Wind: Sjöfartsverkets wind gauge at the lighthous Tån
  • Waves: Wave measuring buoy at situated close to Brofjorden approach buoy
  • If the wave measuring buoy is out of service: SMHI forecast Bizmet for station west Lysekil (significant wave hight)

 

Lysekil

Wind restrictions:

  • Arrival/Departure: Vessels loa. exceeding 150m – mean wind not to exceed 12m/s and   only during daylight

Stenungsund

Limits in fairway during darkness: 

Vessels LOA > 200 m 

Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse earliest 1 hour before sunrise.
Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse latest 1.5 hour before sunset.

Departure Stenungsund earliest 0.5 hour before sunrise.
Departure Stenungsund latest  1 hour before sunset. 

Limit at Talludden berth during darkness: 

Vessels max LOA 100 m during arr./dep.

Limits with visibility < 0.5 nm:

All vessels:  max LOA 150 m.
Vessels loaded with gas: max LOA 125 m.
Vessels loaded with ammonia:   all vessels.

Wind limit: 

Arrival berth max 20 m/s. 

Uddevalla

Limits for the fairway

For vessels above LOA 200 m shall a special request be made to the area manager( se contact page) for the pilots before ordering of pilot. Request shall be made in due time before arrival and the answer will contain possible wind or visibility limits and possible towage requirements for the specific vessel. At time of request a vessel specification shall be given.

Limits in fairway during darkness: 

Vessels LOA > 200 m 

Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse earliest 1 hour before sunrise.
Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse in the evening. Decision of pilot.

Limit at Badökajen berth during darkness:

Vessels max LOA 180 m during arr./dep. 

Limits with visibility < 0.5 nm: 

All vessels:  max LOA 150 m.
Vessels loaded with gas: max LOA 125 m.
Vessels loaded with ammonia:   all vessels.

Wind limit: 

Vessels with large “wind area”:

Max wind: 12 m/s in fairway to Uddevalla.

Wallhamn

Limits in fairway during darkness: 

 

 

Limits with visibility < 0.5 nm 

All vessels:  max LOA 150 m.
Vessels loaded with gas: max LOA 125 m.
Vessels loaded with ammonia:   all vessels

Wind limit: 

There are no reductions in the tugboat recommendations, at wind force above 10 m/s, unless remaining tugs are of Asd/Voith-type. 

Vessels with large “wind area”:

Max wind: 15 m/s(18m/s for certain winddirections if agreed with pilots).

Rönnäng

Limits in fairway during darkness: 

No piloting in the fairway during darkness.

Max wind 7 m/s to/from berth at Astrid fisk.

Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse earliest 0,5 hour before sunrise.
Arrival Hätteberget lighthouse latest 1 hour before sunset

Departure Rönnäng earliest 0.5 hour before sunrise.
Departure Rönnäng latest 1 hour before sunset.
