Traffic restrictions


Only vessels that have the following dwt and ice class will be assisted

Present restrictions:

Karlsborg, Lulea, Haraholmen and Skelleftehamn:

More than 4000 dwt and at least ice class IA
Holmsund, Rundvik, Husum, Ornskoldsvik, Angermanalven, Harnosand, Soraker, Sundsvall:
More than 3000 dwt and at least ice class IA.
Hudiksvall, Iggesund, Soderhamn, Orrskar, Norrsundet, Gavle and Skutskar:
More than 2000 dwt and at least ice class IA
Hargshamn, Hallstavik and Grisslehamn:
More than 2000 dwt and at least ice class 1C
Lake Malaren:
More than 1300 dwt and at least ice class IB or
More than 2000 dwt and at least ice class IC.
Stockholm, Nynashamn, Sodertalje, Oxelosund, Norrkoping, Vastervik, Oskarshamn, Monsteras and Kalmar:
More than 1300 dwt and at least ice class IC or
More than 2000 dwt and at least ice class II
Lake Vanern and Gota Alv/Trollhatte Canal
More than 1300 dwt and at least ice class IB
More than 2000 dwt and at least ice class IC

Vastra Kvarken:
Navigation is prohibited
Oregrundsgrepen and Kalmarsund:
Passage navigation are not advisable

Ice Forecast

Easterly ice drift. A wide lead has opened along the Swedish coast from Gavlebukten to Bjuröklubb.

Ice information

BAY OF BOTHNIA:
North of the latitude through Bjuroklubb mostly very close drift ice 30-60 cm with numerous heavy ridges. Areas with open water from Skelleftebukten to Nygran and from the area around Farstugrunden to Maloren.
In southern Bay of Bothnia 25-50 cm very close ridged drift ice. A 5 – 15 nautical miles wide lead from The Quark to Bjuroklubb.
THE QUARK:
East of a line Nordvalen – Norrskar, very close consolidated ice, 30-50 cm. East of Holmöarna and further southwestwards along the Swedish coast an area with very open drift ice. Else close or very close drift ice, 10-40 cm.
ANGERMANALVEN:
Covered by fast ice, up to 50 cm.
SEA OF BOTHNIA:
Off the Swedish coast a 5 – 15 nautical miles wide lead southwards to Gavlebukten. Heavy floes occur in the lead. Else mostly very close drift ice 10-40 cm, with numerous ridges. In southern Sea of Bothnia alternating heavy floes and open water.
SEA OF ALAND, ALAND ARCHIPELAGO:
Mainly 20 – 35 cm very close drift ice. Narrow areas with open water occur on the Swedish side and close to Aland. In Aland archipelago, 15-35 cm fast or level ice.   
NORTHERN AND CENTRAL BALTIC:
In the Swedish archipelagos 10 – 40 cm fast ice. At sea between Svenska Högarna and Kopparstenarna an area of mainly very close drift ice, 10-25 cm. Further southwards on the Swedish side to Olands norra Udde areas of thin close drift ice and open drift ice to about 40 nautical miles off the coast. In Kalmarsund south of Bla Jungfrun very close drift ice, up to 40 cm.
LAKE MALAREN:
Covered by up to 40 cm fast ice.
LAKE VANERN:
Level ice or close ice, 10 – 25 cm.
KATTEGAT and SKAGERRAK:
In the archipelagoes rapidly rottening fast ice, 20 – 40cm.

Tugboat Dynan are assiting in Lake Vanern. Tugboats Viktor and Alvbjorn are assisting the traffic on Gota Alv.
