Malmporten is Sweden’s largest dredging project, but above all, it is a project that will deliver significant benefits for the environment, society and people. Today, vessels cannot enter fully loaded or be fully loaded at the quay because the port and the fairways leading into Luleå are too shallow. This is due in part to land uplift and the increasing size of vessels. The measures are therefore necessary to safeguard the future development of shipping.

The Malmporten project primarily consists of dredging works in the fairways leading into Luleå and in the port area. The aim is to deepen and widen the fairways. These measures will contribute to more efficient maritime transport and safeguard shipping for many years to come. The project also includes the construction of a new deep-water port, with new infrastructure and new land areas for the storage and handling of goods.
