Locks in Trollhätte Canal
To secure the future of shipping on Lake Vänern, the Swedish Transport Administration, in cooperation with the Swedish Maritime Administration, is planning to build new locks in the Trollhätte Canal at Lilla Edet, Trollhättan, and Vänersborg.
Locks in the Trollhätte Canal
New locks are essential to ensuring that shipping can continue to operate and develop. The Swedish Transport Administration is the client for the Locks in the Trollhätte Canal project and is responsible for constructing the new lock facilities. The Swedish Maritime Administration is the infrastructure manager and the government authority responsible for administering the lock facilities. Together, we draw on each other’s strengths: the Swedish Transport Administration’s experience in managing and delivering infrastructure projects, and the Swedish Maritime Administration’s maritime expertise.
The project consists of three parts: a new lock in Lilla Edet, new locks in Trollhättan, and a new lock in Vänersborg.
