The previous channel markers in the fairway leading to Landskrona have been replaced with lighted buoys, and a new leading line has been established. These improvements will enhance navigational safety and provide clearer guidance for vessels entering and leaving the port. A final navigational inspection and updates to the nautical charts are now all that remain before the project can be completed.

The leading line consists of two lights, one located in the water and the other on land. When the two lights are aligned, they help vessels maintain the correct course.

“The lighted buoys and the leading line are now in place. The next step is to verify that the navigational aids work together as intended and meet the specified requirements in both daylight and darkness,” says Dima Holubynskyy, Project Manager at the Swedish Maritime Administration.

The navigational inspection will take place in October. Pilots and engineers from the Swedish Maritime Administration will travel by vessel from Landskrona towards Ven in daylight and return after dark to verify that the navigational aids function as intended. The nautical charts will then be updated, allowing the project to be completed.
