Information meeting on the Kappelshamn Project

On 15 June, the Swedish Maritime Administration, the Swedish Fortifications Agency and the Swedish Armed Forces held a joint information meeting in Kappelshamn to provide information about the Kappelshamn Project and the next stages of planning.
Gotland’s geographical location and strategic importance create a need to strengthen both ferry services to and from the island and the activities of the Swedish Armed Forces. Through the Kappelshamn Project, the Swedish Fortifications Agency and the Swedish Maritime Administration are planning to expand and develop the port of Kappelshamn in northern Gotland to meet these needs.
During the meeting, the project team presented how comments received during the winter consultation had been addressed and how the project is planned to proceed. There was considerable interest, with more than 50 people attending the meeting at Folkets Hus.
Participants asked many questions, including about the project’s environmental impact and the Swedish Armed Forces’ planned activities in the area.
