Completed fairway projects

The project has delivered major improvements to meet the needs of future transport. New quays have been built and the harbour basin was dredged to accommodate larger vessels. At the same time, the Swedish Maritime Administration worked to improve safety in the fairway through additional dredging and new navigational aids.

The Mälaren fairway project is complete. After many years of planning, permit processes and extensive work, one of Sweden’s largest fairway projects has now been completed. The result is greater capacity, improved safety and more sustainable transport – a historic step forward for shipping in the Mälaren region.
