Reporting procedures
The SOUNDREP area is divided into two sectors. Each sector has an assigned VHF Channel: Sector 1 (North) Ch 73 and Sector 2 (South) Ch 71.
SOUNDREP’s call sign is “Sound Traffic” and vessels entering the operational area must establish contact on VHF when crossing the entrance lines, or on departure from a port or anchorage within the operational area. To accomplish the reporting requirements it is preferred for vessels to send a report by e-mail or using the online reporting form prior to entering the reporting area.
Vessels which fulfil the reporting requirements by use of non-verbal means, must as a minimum report the name of the vessel via VHF when entering the reporting area. For vessels without access to electronic means, a full report must be completed by VHF.
