Providing Pilotage Services
The Swedish Maritime Administration provides nautical expertise and knowledge of local conditions. We offer pilotage services to and from all Swedish ports and to all ports in the Baltic Sea.
The Swedish Transport Agency's regulations govern the requirements for compulsory pilotage.
Through their knowledge of fairways and experience in manoeuvring many different types of vessels, pilots help maintain maritime safety, environmental protection and accessibility when vessels navigate Swedish internal waters.
In Sweden, pilotage is compulsory in internal waters for vessels with a length of 70 metres or more or a beam of 20 metres or more.
Booking a Pilot
Pilotage requests must be submitted electronically via Maritime Single Window (MSW) Reportal no later than five hours before the requested start of pilotage.

These services are provided by experienced master mariners holding valid deep-sea pilotage certificates (Red Cards).
